Design Engineer

Due to the continuing high level of activity in our new product development area, AB Connectors - Abercyon has a vacancy for an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer.

The successful candidate should have experience in the following disciplines:

The successful candidate will enjoy working in a dynamic and fast moving environment and have a track record in the design and development of electro-mechanical components/assemblies. Designs are mainly mechanical in nature and the candidate should possess a minimum of HNC in Mechanical Engineering however electrical knowledge is also preferable but not essential.

Marketing Officer

Salary dependent on experience

Working as part of the active Sales and Marketing team, we are seeking a proactive and experienced Marketing Officer to help direct and implement the Company marketing strategy.
Main Duties will include the following:

• Design & layout of product catalogues/flyers.
• Creating repro ready artwork for advertisements, exhibition stands and pop-up displays.
• Liaising with Exhibition Designers, Advertising & Printing Companies.
• Liaising with PR companies; providing & updating information about company achievements.
• Product & company photography. Maintaining & updating the in-house image library.
• Organising & maintaining stock of in-house product samples.
• Events organising; exhibition registration, accommodation, transport, hospitality, logistics, PR, advertisements, product samples & supporting literature.

The successful candidate must be fully IT literate and capable of working on their own initiative as well as part of a team. Other requirements include the following

• Experience of marketing in a manufacturing environment
• The ability to liaise and communicate with personnel of all levels within the company.
• Accurate and numerate.
• Confident, self motivated and able to work under pressure to deadlines.
• Knowledge of a range of IT packages including, InDesign or QuarkEpress, Photoshop, Acrobat (writer/reader), MS Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint)
• Knowledge of Illustrator would also be an advantage.

Project Engineer

We are currently seeking to appoint an experienced Project Engineer following internal promotion for one of the team members.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the introduction of new projects from initial quotation stage through to serial production. Other activities will include the following:
a) Control of projects during the introduction of new products to comply with customer requests whilst ensuring best cost effectiveness to the company.
b) Actively assist in project costing activities
c) Obtain quotations as required whilst ensuring compliance with company quality procedures.
d) The development of timing plans to meet customer need dates.
e) The review of project status against the timing plan with the customer; the internal project team and provide information for the regular NPD meetings.
f) That key date reviews are conducted as per the timing plan and that all slippages are addressed and escalated where necessary.
g) That samples are produced in line with customer needs to meet the project timing requirements.
h) If new suppliers are required to support new projects, that they are selected using the current company processes for supplier selection and approval.
i) That material, tooling and equipment orders are raised so programme needs dates can be met.

The role requires a confident and organised individual who can manage and achieve objectives within tight deadlines. Previous project management experience in and engineering field will be highly advantageous.
