AB Connectors Ltd First in the UK with Iris

AB Connectors has been awarded the IRIS (International Railway Industry Standard) certification.

AB Connectors Ltd is very proud to announce that it is the first UK Company to achieve this distinction and also the First Circular Connector Company anywhere in the World, a remarkable double achievement.

This Certification underpins the Strategy of the Company to become the foremost provider of Connectors and Interconnect Systems to the Major System Integrators and Equipment Manufacturers operating on a Global basis today.

AB Connectors has won major programmes such as the London VLU and SSL projects by demonstrating it’s competitiveness and technical ability to the prime contractor Bombardier. By being awarded the IRIS Certification, AB Connectors has demonstrated both that its systems are robust and that it committed to the Traction Industry into the future.

For more information on IRIS, click here.

Promoted by UNIFE and supported by system integrators and equipment manufacturers, IRIS (International Railway Industry Standard) intends to complement the internationally recognized ISO 9001 quality standard. IRIS is unique to the railway industry and to be an extension of ISO 9001.

The UNIFE initiative is modelled on similar quality standards already in place in the aerospace, automotive and the food industries.

IRIS intends to develop and establish an internationally recognized standard that encompass the actual evaluation process as well as an audit and scoring methodology.

To ensure independency, equipment manufacturers will be able to apply for the IRIS certificate from the certification body of their choice. All equipment manufacturers are thus able to seek certification based on the new standard. This certificate will replace individual evaluation by at least the four founders of this initiative (Alstom Transport, AnsaldoBreda, Siemens Transportation and Bombardier Transportation).

AB Connectors has appointed a new Distribution Manager as part of their growth strategy. Neil Rowley joined us on October 8th from the ITW Group. Neil has a great deal of experience with Distributors and Agents and has been recruited to overhaul the AB Connector’s International Distribution and Agent Network.

Reg Crook, Sales and Marketing Director said of Neil’s appointment:

“The significant growth of AB Connectors over the past few years has resulted in ABC not paying enough attention to our Distributors and Agents. With significant new products being introduced over the next 12 months it is imperative that to maintain our momentum we need to strengthen our Customer Support by improving our product availability on a global basis. AB Connectors has a very strong customer base within which we have numerous customers who operate internationally and expect their various divisions to receive Global support.”
